I wish he had some hard data before/after. I'm in snow land, and the first thing that would happen to me is it would pack full of snow, so I'll be passing on this one.

I'll tell you though, if I ever wanted to invent something for this, I would probably cut a vent through the hood, spend some time to add a little scoop or grill or something, with drainage for rain of course.

But this thing? My luck a field mouse would move in.

Also, I will save some others typing this... many have tried the cold air approach, and so far as I have heard, it doesn't help much.

I did this mod on a 2wd '92 explorer with great results. I substituted a toilet flange and sized everything else accordingly tho (Lots bigger stuff). The flange had to have the sides cut off to fit in the box.

why do people make websites to teach people about cars when they don't know anything about cars?

Any way you think that i could be put together and installed in a way that would allow a semi quick snorkel switch given the modifications for that snorkel were already done? Or is snorkel the ultimate cold air?

Just the American "try anything" do-it-yourself mentality I suppose. :)

We don't get tons of snow here - but we do sometimes get several inches at once.

When I did mine, i made sure I had a good air filter, and put the elbow facing forward where it wouldn't get direct spray and whatnots from the tire.

Where it really helped was part-throttle driveability and a very minor gas mileage increase. It was a worthy mod for a beat up rust bucket.

Nice try, but the way to get additional cold air using the stock box would be a vent going sideways into the passenger side fender. The air is cool from outside, and the interior is protected by the fender and fenderwell. Throw on a screen to keep critters from moving in and you're good. You could probably even seal off the factory intake tube slot and remove the tube if you made the new intake slot large enough, if water in the intake tube is a problem.

thats pretty damn sweet. not goin that crazy though. i need specs for sure...bigger than ford 40?

I took these pictures last year after I bought my truck and it seems that is has ram air from the factory, the "piping" goes directly behind the grille to the airbox.
