I had been looking for the coolant leak to go along with the coolant odor under the hood... Well I found it this morning...
I popped the hood and started touching the various hoses and got to the heater control valve and started moving the hoses and took a hot shower of dirty coolant and dirt...The upper engine side nipple had apparently been cracked on the bottom side and pushing on it finished the deed...
I needed to replace the coolant lines anyway so I took the time to do all hoses and the coolant...Changed the thermostat as well...
Hell of a way to spend a great looking afternoon...
