i doubt i'll be doint any real soon as i have to replace my HG first and foremost

but

can i get a list of simple and/or free/cheap mods for 1st gens[mines a '91 navajo LX]

i plan to do something with the grille while i wait for the machine shop to work there magic[if i do drop my stuff off for them] and i will use VHT night shades on my tail lights[since the rig is black] and i'm buying some for my other project anyway

other than that i dunno what to expect....if i toy with it long enough i will figure out something cool, but what has been done in the past??

"What has been done in the past??"

EVERYTING IMAGINABLE

Here's a few FREE things to start with.

Search for;
Throttle cable Mod
Clean the MAFS
Swiss Cheese air box

If you want more, you have to tell us what you intend to do in your X. Street, Dirt, Serious Dirt. Then you have to tell us your budget, "Cheap" doesn't cut it, give us a $$ amount you're willing to invest. Hundreds$, thousands$, tens of thousands$

With that information, we can give you TONS of recommendations

i havn't checked the link yet but as for my intentions.... i want something that is 'aggressive looking' and can handle most anything MD[yawn] has to throw at it.....but on the other hand.... the more important hand mind you, i will be using this vehicle[for the time being] as my daily driver i.e. to and from work[highway] and to do go anywhere else i would have to.

so i'm thinking small lift nothing huge, eventually 'large tyres'[again not huge], i want to remove the front bumper for a push bar[any pics], and probably an intake and exhaust nothing super fast for the engine

If you are going to use it as a daily driver I would'nt lift it. Unless poor gas milage does not bother you.

I made this out of leftover parts from other projects. More performance than looks though. The pipes are leftover from my Navigator aftercooler, the MAF housing is from a mustang 5.0. I have another explorer I just got to play with that I have an open air element filter on, will put intake pipes on it later and show you some pictures. If you really want to have fun though, the last picture will give you an idea of imagination

wut all is goin on in that last picture man?

That last one is my Navigator. 5.4 32V InTech motor, powerdyne supercharged to 9psi, run through an air to liquid intercooler. All the BS colored silicone hose are vacuum lines, I had a rich code and couldn't pass emissions and I had a bunch of that chit at the house so I replaced every single GD line I could with what I had, and passed emissions, and don't care to put it back the way it was.

thats def pretty sick ..nice work

Thats my wifes daily driver. The 400HP grocery getter!

i got better gas milage, with the lift 31's and gears....

i got better gas milage, with the lift 31's and gears....

"and gears" are your key words! Gears are not a free or cheap mod.

cost me 130.00.......if used, would have been cheep cheep....30.00 to 50.00

i know what your say'n though, if your scared to do them yourself it be hi...

but its ez'er than most people think, pair of calipers is all you need...i put new ones in my street stock race car all the time, sometimes 2 , 3 times a night...

are gears safe to buy useD? and wher coul i get some 4.10s or bigger..i've got a 3in with 31s right now..plannin on a 5 or 6in with 33s

hey xranger, you got a pic of those 31's if you do infact intead to sell them when you upgrade??

john

You can check ebay or some mustang sites for used 4.11 gears. Any 8.8 rear set of gears will work. You'll need some shims most likely, and a little knowhow on backlash settings, unless you want to fry the rear.
