My 02 purchased new w/ 5R55W only said to not tow for the first 500 or 1000 miles, can't remember which. No post break in adjustment or maintenance was called for.

Did you rebuild the 5R55W yourself? Care to tell about it? Mine is starting to show some bad behaviors.

Whith 170,000 miles on the odometer we begen getting SES light and flashing O/D light.Ichecked the codes and got a low pressure code, and incorect geag ratios for 2ed and 5th.So i started down the list of possible culprits.I changed the fluid and filter, checked the servos and selenoid block, and adjusted the bands.the overdrive band adjusted up tight but the screw was in alot further than the intermediate so i knew something wasn't wright. Once i disasembled the trany i found the o/d band was totaly burned up .Clear down past the rivits which destroyed the drum.A worn o/d servo bore was the cause. So i had the case bored and sleved at my local machine shop and put in a new drum and bands, and purchased a master rebuild kit.Now it shifts better than ever.
