When assembling custom leafspring configurations... once you cut the center bolt down to size, the section of bolt that is still there should be avoided, as it will likely still be hot.

I now have a 3/8" hole in my forearm.

That said, I think I found a good combo to get a cheap 2" lift in the rear. I'll post up once I'm finished up.

Oh, right! Write-up. I'll need to TAKE pictures. None of my arm yet, though- it's now covered in filth from the suspension and wasp spray.

I finished the driver's side and came out with about 1.5" lift. It set me back $20 for all the equipment to do both sides.

Well, this has officially been put on hold. This morning I bought two brand new center bolts at the local Advance. One of them snapped during assembly of the springs. As it turns out, those were the last two center bolts within a 45 mile radius at any parts stores. I know the two 4x4 shops carry them, but that means I'll have to wait until Monday to finish the rear lift.

Here's to hoping my landlord is in a patient mood this weekend...

you can use a 3/8 grade 8 bolt in place of the 12" long 'universal' center pin that parts stores sell. the hole in the perch on the 8.8 is large enough to accomodate the hex head of a standard bolt. also makes it easier to tigther, remove later, and you can get a bolt the size you need instead of having to cut one down. oh yeah.. the center pins you bought were probably too small to begin with, allowing the bolt to move around in the holes in the leafs.

just thoughd id share since ive been there, done that, but kept my arm safe.

Thanks for the arm info - I placed warning signs in my yard and under my truck, just in case. :-)

I had a buddy coming from an hour away and he grabbed a couple of the center bolts from the parts store. If I'd have known the 8.8 perch was large enough to fit a standard head I'd have done that to begin with! Oh, well. I'll keep that in mind for next time.

I'll hopefully get the passenger side done today and post a simple write-up.

Rear lift is done. Full write-up is HERE.

Four0Sport- I added your bit about using grade 8 bolts from the hardware store, but didn't directly reference that you were the one to provide the information (however, I also didn't claim it to have been my own knowledge.) I apologize for not including that and if you'd prefer, I could add in there that you're the one who gave me the information. Just didn't think about it until after I posted it.
