Good work man just lets not EVER do that again! Do you still have your lisence?

well i lost it for 6 months, but i got it back in july. almost down with probation and all, just gottafinsih paying off my lawyers and the courts....can't say i won't get in that spot again, i was exhausted, the alcohol, if it did anything, added to it, so i passed out, i still drive sleepy sometimes, sometimes i just pull off to the side and sleep a bit b4 i continue. but never with alki in my system again

ah much better. how much did it exactly cost you?

i am assuming hte frame was straightened out too? what about the fender aprons and radiator support? basically the whole clip? was that all replaced? or jsut rigged to work?

Damn  Nice repair work there ;)

whyd you lose the 4wd?

I spent roughly...$1k
I found a guy in East New York who had a similar Explorer and let me aprt it out, we negotiated for about $00 to pull off anyting I want, i came back like 10 times to pull off extra stuff. I only had 3 months to do it during the winter so..gotta work with what i've got. then I spent money on pulley's, belts, fluid's tapes, tools i didn't have, etc.
frame straightened...errr, kinda..they wanted 1500 to straigthen it so i got a cum along and a 10 ton porta power set and did it myself:

fenders ae fine, fender aprons...well i took the radiator support w/ about 1 foot of fender apron, so we could bolt it to the original fender apron(no access to a torch or welding equip).
In fact the sway bar was hitting the driver's side spring, so i put about 5-6 washers between the frame and the bushings rear bolt to push it off the spring, and as scary as that sounds, it works beautifully

that's before i put the washers in, but their under the bolt on the right

as you can see how the sway bar was hitting the spring

I never lost the 4WD

was it easy to align? You did align it, right?

errr, not exactly. i straightened out the frame as best as could be, and the alignment seemed to be on the money for the first 6 months, now it needs an alignment again, nothing drastic

I remember when you posted the picture of that wreck right after it happened, there was another one of you in the picture with the truck, if I remember right.
Everyone wanted to know what happened and what you were going to do with the truck, and you stuck by your guns to fix it.

And damnit if you did, that's awsome!

I'm sure this is one moment in life you will never forget, glad to see your ok and still an Explorer owner, and that your Ex is still with us too, good job bringing her back!

thanx, ya i've had a couple people try to buy her off me(for parts and cheap at that), and my mother has even offered to give me $4k to buy something else. but it's too much of a hassle and she still runs so great. just gotta replace the hubs and rig the a/c and she's set..then it's on to the customizations

DWI where in BK are you? if you need some help with it just let me know

greenpoint, but i do all my work on it on long island

im from bayridge if you ever need help again even out in LI just pm me and ill get back to you

Nice work. Im glad a bad situation turned out good.

well some old guy in an 04-05 nissan maxima shot out in front of me 2 weeks ago..nothing i could do, frame is even worse and the front left wheel is shoved up into the wheel well, so i've finally thrown in the towel, went out and bought a 98 this time. so i'm parting out the old one, already switched the visors(why in the world did they put smaller mirrors on the visors in the 98?)
