Title says it all. I'm trying to remove the Torrington needle bearing from the passenger side tube. I am hoping someone has done this and will share ideas. My 3 finger slide hammer puller thingy just will not grab it good enough. I gave it one finger and walked away. Help?

Thanks!

Do a search at your favorite tool supplier for "blind hole bearing puller", which goes on a slide hammer. Depending on the size, you might be able to get it with an axle bearing puller attachment, which is cheaper and easier to find -- or fabricate a similar attachment yourself.

I saw the post in your other tread first posted my response to there

In the car I have used a small hook on the end of a slide hammer to get it out. Just work around it with little taps at a time. Use a bearing race installer with the adapter turned around to the non-tapered side to tap it in.

Out the car with the carrier out its only a few taps with a long brass punch and it's out.

Got it.

Stuff rags or paper towels down into the tube to catch debris.

Use a small chisel and hammer to knock a couple of the needles out. The rest of them will come out if you roll a magnet tip around.

The remaining outer lip can then be grabbed with the slide hammer fingers.

It took about 2 minutes. wish I would have taken a video but I was on a roll
