Hi Guys...

I have a 94 explorer and am attempting to replace the front axle u-joints (among many other things) and so far
am 66.6% successful. My problem is the middle one, I am not sure how the half/ujoint/slip shaft assembly comes out of the differential. I have tried and read till I'm at the point of replaceing it under the truck!

Thanks in advance!

I'm relatively sure there is a c-clip inside the front diff that holds that middle shaft in (I think it says in the Haynes manual). So you can crack the diff open or replace it under the truck. Either way good luck!

Correct, the stub shaft is held in place by a c-clip inside the differential. As mentioned you have two choices: change the u-joint with the stub shaft in place or drop the differential so you can get at the c-clip.

I was afraid of that!

I have the Chiltons manual. It doesnt cover the front differential at all!!!

Thanks for your replies!
