Hello,
All of a sudden one day I started to hear a cracking/banging sound come from the front end of my truck. The more I drive, the louder it gets. It will also start to vibrate my truck. I did what I could to see anything was lose etc...
I took my truck to a local repair guy. Whileraised on the lift in drive position, everything spinning, the sound was not there. It seems there has to be a load. He then removed the front drive shaft and the sound was completetly gone!
My question is now what? Could it be a bad drive shaft or a problem with the tranfer case? What steps should be taken to figure this out.
BTW when the drive shaft is in, it does not matter if the truck is in drive or nuetral, that sound is still there(all the time). The faster I drive, the quicker the sound is. The sound seems to move with the rotation of my truck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
