My 97' Ex 4.0 SOHC Awd 130K is turning into a piece of crap... I wont even get into all of the problems its starting to have.

I'm trying to isolate some front end noises and problems....what I would like to know ?.... is it OK to remove the front drive shaft and drive it that way, or does that create more problems ???

Thank you for your time,

GFG

If you replace it with a Chevy, "(equal-knocks)", Traverse, Envoy, etc. be prepared to deal with even bigger passels of ****! imp

Yes you can pull the front drive shaft since you are 4x4 not awd.

^ From my research so far it seems that even the AWD system will be OK if the driveshaft is removed.

However be careful, they can drift/move when in park.

AWD does not have hubs that release so the whole front end is still turning even when you remove the front shaft (driven by the wheels). It won't help you isolate anything unless it's run on a lift.
