Gen 2 is '95 - '01 so I would think that any Gen 2 with the 5.0 AWD driveshaft would work. Can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't. Probably a salvage yard is your best bet for a replacement. But most importantly, WHY was the drive shaft removed in the first place?

Not sure yet just bought it

96 will not work, it's a different design and the transfercase will not bolt up. He needs the ball and socket design. 97-01 V8 explorer or mountaineers should be fine. Just make sure it's not an early build 97 that has the 96 design.

Are you near PA?

I have one off my 98 I no longer need.

No I'm in fl what you want for it?

I have a 98 without a front shaft also, PO took it out seven years before. Hopefully the front shaft was the problem, it is the most likely, weakest link.

Check out the front u-joint and the CV well too, replace them if they aren't super smooth. Both can be bought for under $100 total, less with cheaper brands.
