Front driveline locked out of 4X4

Front driveline locked out of 4WD

My driveline doesnt turn freely when out of 4WD.My wrecked explorer did.I noticed this when I put my tranny in and had the old one out.Does that mean my hubs are stuck locked in??I also have an isuzu trooper II that does the same thing.The TC is in neutral but the driveline is locked and it has auto hubs as well.This one also makes a horrible noise when driveing coming from the front driveline area.But thats another subject.Is it my hubs on the explorer that are stuck and need service??

If the transfer case is in 2H and the hubs are unlocked, then the front driveline should spin freely. If it won't spin freely, then the first thing to check would be the hubs. Will the front drivetrain spin with the wheels (or wheel) if you jack up the front end?

Thats what I figured.My wrecked explorer turns freely.I may just swap hubs or clean the ones on there now.I think the isuzu is doing the same thing but it makes noise
