Front Driveshaft Boot

Please help. The boot on the front driveshaft on my 91 X has split. I am told that there are no split boots available. The repair requires disconnecting the front driveshaft to replace the boot. Anybody had this problem? How much effort is it to repair? Any other helpful tips for doing this repair?

The only way to fix is is to remove the drive shaft. It isn't that difficult. In the mean time, to keep dirt and water out clean the outside with a rag soaked with brake cleaner, then duct tape the rip shut. This will keep the splines clean and dry until you have the time (or money) to fix it right.
