Hey Everyone. New to the group and looks like its gonna be really helpful. I do have one issue with my 2000 mountaineer awd. Just got a month ago. Runs great but sat for a long time before I bought. 60k original miles on it. When I turn left I can here a clunking noise sounds like passenger side. Definately up front. Can't feel it in the wheel. Any ideas on what to check/replace. Thanks

This is all too familiar a problem. I have had three Explorers and at one time each had a clunk. The sound comes from the back middle, and front.

Firs look at the sway bar bushings. Second look at the ball joints (if the boots are broken then maybe dirt got in). Ball joints are a common problem as they have grease fittings rarely used. Third, At 60k miles it is rare for anything to go wrong. You shouldn't have issue till 150k.

If you need to know about sway bar bushings then you can learn a lot by search on this sight and see pictures.
