My insurance took over. There has been no movement on the other persons insurance after one week. The Ex was towed away today. Should have more details in the next few days. I will post an update when I get more information.

They have Progressive, and I have State Farm. My insurance will just go after theirs for the damages. I couldn't sit around and wait any longer for them to start.

Man State Farm will take care of you. I've had them for over 12 years and been through 3 accidents and they really took care of everything. Two of my accidents totaled the vehicle and they ended up paying more than what I paid/owed for both! I have heard some bad stories about Progressive not wanting to pay. You made the right move letting SF handle it.

I got a call this afternoon from the repair shop. The Ex has about $10K worth of damage, including the front rail frames. They had to tow the Ex to another shop that has the computerized frame machine to straightened it back out to the factory specs. It will be in the shop for up to two weeks. They will keep me updated. Regardless I will be filing a diminished value claim with the other persons insurance. Since it will now be marked by CarFax. Also the other persons insurance finally claimed responsibility for the accident.

10K wow!

Yea I was surprised too. Apparently most of the damage is not visible until they started removing parts.

Looks like NEWPORTNJ wasn't that far off with his estimate of 9K.

Absolutely do this! I got 25% less than my Jeep was worth because the CarFax stated frame damage present. A cross member where the bumper attached was tweaked. My Jeep was more than 2 years old so I couldn't file the diminished value claim I was told...

They will also try to use "USED" parts off of salvaged vehicles... I know this because my body shop (a really good one too) had to fight with "Travelers" Insurance after they sent a slightly bent and used Wrangler tailgate and hinges as replacement OEM parts to my shop...

I did check with the Insurance company, and they did confirm that OEM parts are used for all repairs.

UPDATE!! Well, the Ex has $12,419 worth of initial damage. They also said it might not be ready or approx 30 days yikes!

Amazing how much repairs cost these days.

My wife did some front end damage to her CX9 a few winters back and the body shop we brought it to(our family knows the place all too well) had a check box on one of the forms asking if used parts were acceptable. A simple check in the “No” box and all was good. I don’t remember if it stated OE parts, but it came back looking real pretty. Her's looked a lot worse than yours and was "only" in the $6k range.

12K... ouch. Mine was about 10.5K for a rear-end collision.

A Ford repair shop had my car for 31 days, and returned my car with new interior damage.

Be careful!
