Hello. This is my first post. Been following the site for about a year now and love it. I lifted my ex about ayear ago. BTF 2.25 and 1.75. Hear in the past couple of days I'm getting noise/vibration in the front end, I think drivers side. It starts at 45mph and gets louder with speed. when I let off the gas it goes away but as soon as I get back on it it returns. Its a 4x4 auto. I'm thinking its the cv joint but not sure. Anybody have any suggestions?

How many miles do you have? How much throttle input is needed to make the hum start? High pitch or low pitch? Lastly, does engaging 4x4 make a difference

Edit: Welcome aboard!!!

Its got 130k. Its a low pitch hum. Almost sounds like real meaty tires. I dont need to get on the throttle hard. Just enough to put a load on the drivetrain. Haven't checked if there's a difference in 4x4 hi vs auto. Will do that tomorrow when I get back to it. Thanx.

Ok. Got to my truck today. 4x4 high and 4x4auto same results. Any help?

Normally, this would be an issue with the rear end if you have the tow package (3.73 LS rear end) and would "whine" just as you've described. Mine has been doing it for the last 6 years and is an annoyance more than anything. Most people change the diff fluid and add friction modifier (required for LS) and that helps quiet it down.

If you're certain it's coming from the front, then it's possible it could be your CV shaft. Wish I was closer so I could help out.

I would be real interested to see how this turns out. I am having the same issue. The hum/vibration sounds like it is coming from passenger side front and starts at about 45-50mph and get louder with speed. Can also feel it in the steering wheel. Have not found anything out of the ordinary yet. About to put BTF Spacers in and new struts, so I may get a better look then.

I had this issue too did the front wheel bearings an the took it in for the rears rear left ended up to be the junked out one but I would change them in pairs on the back ones at the same time do both sides! Its to me pricey on the rears but mid Dec in Wisconsin I didnt have a choice! My other weird vibe started after I put on my spacer kit the guy made a mistake on the alignment specks did it as stock I would go to a frame an axle shop if your thinking cv, yeah it may cost a hundred bucks or so have it fully looked over first b4 gashing your wallet a hole the wont stop bleeding do as mutch as you can from stuff on here about suspension parts an diy tips or videos off youtube cause even Small shops wanna make the money! I was told at sears your inner tie rod ends are shot we wont do a alignment on it till you fix that I was like no kidding I just did my Upper control arms an spacer lift I checked all that over why you think I am here for the alignment they run cheap deals the tell people you need all this stuff!
