Hi, i'm a newbee here and have just bought a 1997 4.0L V6 Explorer. I note that there is a loud humming noise from the front end when driving. Once parked i can rev it without any hum, so i guess its something to do with the drive train, transmission or bearings. Can someone please put in order the first things to check for (the most likely reason for the hum) so that i don't waste half my life doing the wrong things!!
I know that these questions have probably been answered before, but their are so many answers in this forum, its a bit confusing!

Thanks in advance.....

Welcome to this forum! Sometimes torque converters make this type of sound when they start to go, but if it only makes this sound while driving, then it could be a transfer case or a differential if it's a 4WD.
