When I turn full turn to the left, Im not sure about right but I get a popping noise. One or two times it pops. Not all the time just at full turn. Does this sound normal or is there something that I can check under there? Mostly it happens when I am putting the boat up in its parking space, but a few times not hauling it. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

You might want to check the tierod ends for binding.

My 1997 Explorer (4L engine) is having intermitant problems -- sometimes in sharp turns at VERY LOW speed (e.g parking) the fromt wheels feel as if they lock-up, then release... Also noticed that during "normal" driving, the 4x4 and 4x4low lights flicker in the dashboard.... Any ideas what maybe going on here???

Sounds very much like your problem, right???

What do I look for when checking for that? Metal to metal scraps?

My wheels do not lock up and I have no lights come on either, it just makes a loud pop.

Mine makes that same kind of popping noise, but it almost does it on every turn. This is a fairly new development too. I would think that it is somewhere in the steering linkage, but have bee too lazy to check anything.

Maybe I'll check the tie rod ends this weekend for signs of bindage.

Keep me posted and I'll keep you posted.
