Got a issue and not sure how to fix it or what Could be causing the issue. The Explorer when turning sometimes the front end shutters like the tires are gripping the road to hard. Then other times it doesn't. Asked a mechanic at work yesterday and said it was being caused by a clutch piece in the transmission. Could this also be caused by low trans. fluid level or fluid that needs replaced. It's just odd that it only happens about once a week if that, then goes away.

Did the mechanic mention there possibly being air in the power steering lines?

No, he said nothing about that, but not sure how that is possible. I have not opened up the power steering for anything. But how does that relate, I have no loss of power steering. I will ask him and see what he thinks just to see if it's possible.

The power steering unit is fluid-driven, just like the clutch, and the automatic transmission. If you get air bubbles, they can mess with the operating pressure of the system, causing a rapid, mild de-pressurization and re-pressurization of the lines... hence, your shudder. You won't necessarily experience a loss of power steering capabilities, just a lack of consistency for a few seconds.
And you need not have opened up the system for anything. Holes develop in power steering lines just like they develop in any other system.

Is this an awd 5.0?

Yes

Are the tires matched perfectly? equal wear?

Yes, they are all brand new

I am going to have a mechanic look at it next week.

Well I got my mechanic friend to take it for a ride and he thinks it's the Rear End starting to go KA BOOM!. I talked to another friend and he said his Blazer was making the same noise before his Rear end went out. So Saturday I am going to pull the diff. cover and see if I have any metal flakes or other damage to the spider gear.
