2014 explorer (base)
Hi everybody! I just wanted to throw this out there to see if any one had the same opinion as I do. I purchased a 2014 Exp. (base model) last year the one thing that does bug me is how hard the front end rides. On the highway the truck is pretty smooth, but city driving on the other hand is not. When going over speed bumps (crawling) it feels like there is no strut to soften the blow. The rear end on the other hand is way more forgiving. Also, just going down a street I can feel every little imperfection. It rides like a chuck wagon lol. Maybe its just me, but is there a difference from the Base Model to an XLT's struts? Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this!!

Although I'm sure you've already done this, make sure your tire pressure is correct in all four tires.

Thank you @peterk9! Also, thank you for the link! Im sure it is just me lol. @Sixonemale as a matter of fact I just checked them today. They were off by a couple of lbs (under). Although I was thinking maybe its the Goodyear Fortera tires that could cause a rough ride? I'll find out in time. I would like to upgrade from the factory steel wheels and caps in the near future! Again, thanks guys for the feedback!

The tire pressure I'm referring to is on the door jamb of the car, which is 35 PSI cold, so somewhere between 35-38 PSI should be fine vs the tire pressure listed on the sidewall of the tire. I also don't doubt your tires, if they are worn, are making some sort of contribution to your rough ride.

There were some front end issues with the 2014 models. I had a 2014 XLT and it was very harsh over bumps and potholes. And there was a bit of a clunking. The 2016 I am driving now has none of those issues.

I only had the 2014 about 1.5 years, so I never bothered to have the front end checked, but there was definitely something going on with it.
