Hi,
My AWD V8 Explorer has been making this howling noise for most of the three years since I had it. This noise starts around 10 mph and it is noticeable until up to 25 mph. When you let go of the gas at those speeds, the noise stops.

Repeated trips to the dealer and all they say is that they don't hear it. Has anyone hear of a TSB or a solution to this annoying problem?

Thanks,
Shane

It is not uncommom to hear that from a Ford service shop. They are underpaid, which prompted them to quit OR to not even properly diagnose a vehicle brought in for service.

I thought the problem is only on AWD V8 Explorers. I'm surprised that Ford took a long time to fix the problem in all engines and 4x4 systems since '95 model year.

My truck only has 15,900 miles on it and I don't think the bearings are the problem. Maybe that dust boot thing. What parts are for the fix? I checked my dust boots and they look fine. My warranty expired not too long ago. So, has anyone tried to fix the problem themselves?

Thanks,
Shane
