..........hi all.
my front brakes are sticking on, and i have been told it is the front flexy's. i dont understand how the flexy's can be at fault. after all they are just hollow tubes, arnt they?

my local car spares shop say they are a dealer only part, who wants £50 each plus the dreaded.

anyone got ANY ideas? at all, price etc

i have a long journey next week, swansea, and i want it fixed for then. for a couple of reasons, economy and safety, as my front pads are done for.

thanks in advance.

what usually happens is the flexi pipes look ok on the outside, but collapse on the onside, so the fluid cannot come back easily and the caliper stays on as if you still have the brake pedal on-or the fluid doesnt reach the brake every time and braking is not as good.

tried to look for these before especially the braided ones which are better but have not found any as yet.

is that the stainless braided flexi pipes for £26 from ford si?

if so is that each one, really want some for the new disks (vented and drilled )and semi mettalic pads frrom the states im planning on

not sure.. just front flexible brake pipes..

I'd love to do the drilled/grooved option with nice pads too.. but as it's gonna be more of an offroad monster than street machine I'm not too fussed

ewll really wanted to upgrade if possible but hard to find so may look at ford ones lol.

i use mine all the time and mostly on road so may aswell kit it for fast road use,my lpg tank where the spare used to be limits off roading abit lol as would my ability pmsl

On a slightly different subject (but still related) - does anyone know what size and type of connections are used on the metal brake lines?

I hear on another forum that it has a mixture of metric and imperial connections - is this true?

Cheers
Kenny

i would have to ask someone like howard that one as yet i have not been near my pipes

mine's a daily driver but hoping to get my mondeo back on the road this weekend. I find the brakes are enough, I've even disconnected the ABS

Its an easy job- I am sure you could do it yourself, I had reason once, as I was a poor student to replace my brake lines front to back in a mk 1 escort- I did it, using pipe benders, a flaring tool and a tape measure, the flexible brake lines should be easy to get, I am sure you could even order them from Halfords if you never wanted to go to Frauds.
