ok-
I own a 92 ranger that I am installing an 8.8 out back and a dana 35 up front.

At the moment my truck goes nowhere ...

I am looking to get as much traction as i can in 4x4.

now the thing is i drive my truck 75% of the time on the street and alot of that is in 4x4 during the winter months.

I am going with a standard ford trac-lock in the 8.8 but what should I use in the front dana 35?

I was looking a at Genuine Gear Quick lok or a detroit truetrac for the front... but when i am in 4x4 on the street ALL 4 tires will always be turning.....

A friend of mine said that its not good to do this??? is this true????

should I spend the extra money and get a front ARB air locker.....

that way on the street in 4x4 I am only turning 3 tires.... and when i really need all 4 or am off road I can lock the front???

any help would be great since I am new to front lockers and know nothing about them

a non selectable locker in the fron for a DD is a bad idea... definatly in the snow.... itll wanna pull you straight all the time.... i would invest in an arb... or a tru trac...

I have the quick lock in my front of my daily driver. The locker in the front will have no effect on street driving with the hubs turned out. It has helped offroad the 2 times I have been offroad since the installation a few months ago. You should not be running your truck in 4x4 on the street unless there is snow or ice. I have not driven on snow yet with my front locker so I cant tell you about that yet. Selectable lockers are nice but I couldnt justify the extra $ for one. The quick lock was cheap and suits my needs.

If you plan to run a front locker and drive on snow/ice, get an ARB. You will have absolutley no control with all four wheels locked on ice.
