Front seats are breaking down badly in my 94 explorer. Does anyone know what would be the best bet for replacing them? perhaps something a little more comfortable?

It would need to be not very expensive and not very difficult as i am not the best mechanically although i am trying to learn.

thanks all

Seats from a junk yard truck is your best bet

What type of seats, basic cloth seats, deluxe cloth, or leather? If the fabric is good, you can put new foam cushions in from a junkyard Explorer. Use the ones from the passenger side, they will be in the best condition.

If your foams are split or torn, you can use 3M spray adhesive to repair them. It works great on that stuff, tape does not!

If you go with junkyard seats, you have no idea what has been on those seats (nudists???) so I recommend you take off the fabric and clean it first. It's not hard to do, very easy on the basic cloth seats. Throw the fabric into the washing machine once you remove any metal rods. Wash it twice with lots of soap. You can air or machine dry it afterwards. Be prepared to wipe down a little dirt from the inside of the washing machine, and possibly bits of fabric from the dryer... don't tell the wife.

Yeah guess i should have specified a little more heh.
They are leaning back real bad almost makes me feel like i am in a low rider, and the seat is in the full upright position. They also have pad issues. I was pondering replacing the seats with racing style front seats since they are almost the same price in the junk yard around here.

Might be a bad adjuster mechanism. The 2-door seats have a slightly different recline mechanism that I think works better and sits a little closer to 90 degrees. It bolts right onto a 4 door seat. Another thing you can do is install longer bolts and put fender washers under the seat mounts to tilt it forward.
