front shocks ?

So we took a 2000 explorer xlt and cut 32" out of the frame and put a cj5 body on the chassis. The rolling car is now way lighter and the front end rides very stiff. All the sway bars have been removed. What do I do to soften the ride?

My first thought is swap out the torsion bars with ones from a lighter vehicle (say a reg-cab shortbox Ranger w/few options).

Sounds like an interesting project. Got pics?
