hey everyone, i am new here (already posted a newbie thread) i had a quick question. i have a 96-97 xlt v8 and it seems as though the front suspension sags on the the driver side left and high on the passenger side. i looked and there are no springs up there. how does the suspension work? and what is the level of difficulty of fixing something like this?

i looked for something on this in a sticky but didnt see anything.

Welcome to the forum

The V8 is notorious for sagging on the drivers side because, not only is the drivers side seat always occupied, but the fuel tank is also located on that side of the vehicle. The fix for the off kilter look is easy. Your truck has torsion bars for the front suspension. These can be "cranked up" to level out the side to side height of the front. If you can get under your truck with a 1/2 inch drive "breaker bar" and turn a few bolts, you can do this. BUT, be aware that changing the setting will throw off your caster/camber, so an alignment may be in order once you complete this. There is a "skid plate" around the area of the end of the torsion bar. Remove the bolts that hold this on, and it will reveal a bolt that is in contact with the piece on the end of the torsion bar. (it is known as the "key") Turn the bolt one half to one turn, cycle the suspension by going for a short drive and then check the height. Add more if needed (or remove some on the passenger side).

thanks, i may have to try tackling that this weekend.
