2 things.

1: anyone know about GM tow hooks? I was told these are great for use with a high lift jack on my X. Are there certain models or do i just go to a dealer and say i need GM front tow hooks? (maybe it varies by truck?) Also, would i then have to mod these because of my 2" BL?

2: another option would be to put a front receiver in. i like this because i get move my boat/ hook up a winch/etc with it.... but did i screw up my chances for a front mounted receiver hitch with my BL and/or brushguard?

Thanks in advance!

I would say no... the worst you would have to do is cut plastic, but with a BL all that should happen is the hitch should sit below all the plastic. Let me know how it goes, I need to do the same thing!

lol sure.. ill be the guiney pig this time!

Know any places to get a good price on a front receiver? Class 1 or 2 for up there??? (i have class 2 in rear)

You are amazing! I will probably order this in a week or so (I am making $400 this weekend) and have it welded on... :) Thanks

personally, i wouldnt weld on a hitch that was designed to be bolted on.... bolted and welded maybe,,, or just bolted.... welding stuff to the frame should only be done by very experienced personel who know about the brittleness of frames and proper penetration and such... welding just isnt joing 2 metals together, there is actually a whole science about it!

Fear not... I was not going to do it... I was planning on bolting it on myself and then later having a shop weld it in a few places (when I can get some sliders buildt) to stregthen it just a tad more. :) Didn't want to scare you making you think I was actually going to knife my own car at the not-so-ripe age of 17.

so my brush guard shouldnt get in the way of the receiver AND where it needs to bolt onto the frame right?

should fit fine
not too sure though, depends where the brushguard is mounted to....

contact lizardstrac on this one because he has a 98 sport and and front reciever and had a bruch installed before he did the solid axle.swap.

he should be able to help you out.

oh yeah skier nice truck but mines bigger.
haha

Lefy

thanks for the info. Yea i shoulda thought of talking to lizard already...

so let me see some pics of your X! Only difference so far i see is the 3" BL w/33's. Im in the process of getting 33's on mine.. im gonna trim for now and someday get fibe fenders (plannin on insurance paying for that ;) )

But anyways.. lemme see yours- i havent seen the 3" BL on my set-up yet so we'll see if im kicking myself for not doing 3" afterwards!

BTW: was the 3" BL hard for you to do? Besides for drilling out the bushings and stuff, how were the brake lines and components on the firewall, and steering extension?

OK where the hell do I find that front mount hitch for a first gen

skier: don't got any pics of it with the 33s yet. but if you wanna compare. come down this weekend (27-28) to
the swap in englishtown and for wheeling on sunday in mahwah.

also you
if i were you id say getting 33s in there with a 2inch bl is gonna be tough. if your 32s rub.
my 33s rub with a 3inch where i turn with the front end flexed. i got to trim a decent bit more.
also i was thinking about doing the fiberglass thing till.
i found out they are weaker and can crack also they don't look good unless you have front and rear fenders. and painting them.
you can do a locker for 300 bucks screw fenders that you already have. also they make you truck 8inchs wider so without them you can drive through alot of stuff without a problem that with them would be harder.
if i were you i'd spent another 125 and a afternoon and do the three inch body if you really want 33s. it wasn't hard and I didn't have any problems. besides using a dead bit to drill the bushings. but i fixed that by going to the local hardware store.

but you'll see what i mean on at the meet.

this is what it would do.

i just had to cut a little notch off the bottom and just kind of press the bumper over it. i have a license place bracket deal that fits in there and hides it too.
