Front wheel bearing torque specs?

After my outer nut was nice and tight with preload correct, i took a dremel and grinded a notch into that 2nd nut where the keyway is..then i stuck the little ""key"" from the auto hubs in there..hasnt come loose yet.probably 5 years+ with big 36x14.50s on it

It is a 94 4x4. Axle nut replaced with the Warn spindle nut kit. This should not make a difference. I do have the proper axle nut socket. My issue is that when I tighten down the bearings to where there is no play in the wheel, I get a bearing noise. I will take the bearings out later today and repack them as I do see a lot of dirt and frequent moderate off road use... I live on a dirt road and go through a dip daily. Is there a spec to torque the axle nut to?

So have been doing lots of research lately myself bc I have noticed far too much wear and signs of friction in my inner and outer bearings recently. I'm very much a "Why" person so came out and disassembled my front end to the spindle (damn abs sensors are seized)...upon very careful examination and measuring with a caliper I realized that my rotors, although not warped and fairly new, were bad. The center hole where the spindle goes was slightly bored out thus causing fretting and excessive wear on anything rotational including the center hole of my wheels and lead to excess endplay stressing everything. I'm now in "Why is there excess play and why did the rotors go?" Mode now...but if you're noticing that you get bearing noise when tightened to torque, check your rotors and spindles very carefully!!!! Good luck!
