Heyo. I’m new here.
within the past year or so my explorer has been having issues steering at random times. Occasionally I’ll steer left (I think it’s only left) and it’ll make a very present clunking noise, with shudders and all that. After the major clunk it goes back to normal for a while before it happens again. Recently I chose to beat up on it a little in the mud (two days ago). It made it home without many issues, but I did lose a significant amount of power steering fluid. I filled it back up, and it hasn’t leaked out since. However, coming home today it began making the clunking sound, except it didn’t go away. In fact it got worse. It got so bad that the front tires would drag (one or two I can’t tell, but I think it’s only one). It’s now to the point where I cannot move at all. I’m in the parking lot at Walmart waiting for a tow home, with no idea why this is happening. I can move backwards a little, and then move forward again for a moment before it locks up. I can still steer. Occasionally I can move forward for a bit but as soon as I brake it begins clunking again. Anyone have any ideas?
