Hello everyone! :salute:

I am swapping a 1998 302 into my 2000 Ford Ranger 2wd. I've been offered a set of Ford Racing Performance Parts headers for this engine that will work with my swap, and I was wondering if anyone had any specifications on them.

Are the stock manifolds as restrictive as they appear? Will I notice any worthy performance gains from them?

Thanks for any info! And yes, Mods, I tried the "search function".

The FRPP headers are a joke. However, if you are getting them for free then why not? I cannot recall if they will fit properly in the Ranger chassis or not. I am sure someone else more experienced with that particular application will chime in.

I would look into the Torque Monster engine swap headers. They are about $700 but are well worth the money.

The FRPP headers are not great but they are better than the severely pinched and poorly siamesed stock manifolds. Obviously, Torque Monsters are better yet but they also cost more.

This photo shows that the FRPP headers (bottom) have about double the cross sectional area near the head port exit compared to the stock manifolds.

Headers are some of the most bang for the buck. With that said, it is just one part of a somtimes complex equation. Those headers will come into their own with the right intake, carb, cam, axel ratios and so on for what torque curve your looking for. Good luck.

Used them on a buddies Ranger, just plain junk and not worth the hassle of installing them. Send me some dimensions, I bet I can make you a set.
