i read a bunch of threads, and was not able to determine exactly where my fuel filter is. i want to change it for the first time, and wanna know if its in the tank, or on the line. also, if its on the line, exactly where?

is it something an amateur can change?

somebody let me know, alright?

thanks.

jake

well on my 92 its below the drivers door on the inside of the frame rail

Its not hard to change. There are some fuel line disconects that you are going to have to have autozone or any other parts store should have them.Make sure you releive pressure first.Do a search this has been talked about before:D Good luck

This is where a Chilton's manual comes in really handy. The filter is right below the drivers door, inside the frame rail behind a small heat shield, just above the radius arm mount. The filter is simple to change provided you have the proper tool. The quick disconnect tool can be purchased at any auto parts store. There is a fuel pressure releif valve next to our coil pack on top of the engine. Unplug the fuel safety switch or trip the circuit breaker. This unit is mounted on the floor board on the transmission hump in the passenger foot well. Just pull up the carpet under the HVAC and you will see it there. Make sure to have a bucket to catch some fuel that will spill when removeing the filter.

thanks guys,

i appreciate the help. i am thinking this might help with fuel economy. when i put 31's on, it went to the crapper. any other ideas?

plugs and wires, air filter, other standard maintenance will all help.

Are you adjusting for the difference due to the bigger tire size? My understanding is that with the larger tires, the odometer will think you have not gone as far as you have.

my speedometer has been 5 mph or so off since i have owned it. it came with stock 235/75/15's on deerhoof rims. i wonder if the guy that had it before me ever had some other size tires requiring a different speedo gear, or if its just messed.

i don't know if my 31's made it closer to normal, or worse. i have been meaning to get out the walkie talkies and make my wife ride down the interstate next to me. i want to see how i compare at speeds from like 40 to 70. i know the speedo in her grand prix gt works just fine. don't ask....

i don't know my exact mpg, i just know how frequently i drop almost thirty bucks on a tank of gas.

Mine reads 8 mph faster...but that will change soon as soon as I put my 20's on...then it should read just about right or slower...
