I have this problem that developed, please listen to both sound clip (30 seconds each),

first from the engine bay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woruwxV_7qw

You hear the idle is not regular, it want to stall and come back regularly.

---

Now listen at the sound near the gas tank

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--DF_T48I68

I hear a kind of "pshhht" every 4 seconds or so, right at the time the engine want to stall.

---

A little history about the problem.

First show 2 weeks ago, sometimes starting the truck it would stall right there, and idle strange like this at the second start, then settles after 10-15 seconds and the engine run perfectly fine after that. It lasted 2-3 days then disapeared, so i thought water in gas or something.

Now today it begin to idle strange like this after 5 minutes warmup, then do it always, when i drive also. It cause the truck to jerk forward when power come back, and then die, etc. It also do it in neutral, when i rev the engine at says 2000rpm, it cut and come back like this.

So now it's undrivable safely like that.

But i'm a little lost where to search. Such a regular sound tell me it's electronic ? How is the fuel pressure regulator on those truck? Electronic or mechanic? In the tank or somewhere else?

No check engine light, can i still pull some code even if the CEL never lit (yet) ?

Truck have 62 000 miles, just out of warranty. I bought it last summer so unsure or what have been done and not mechanicaly.

Thanks for your help!

Rick, based upon your descriptions of the problems, I'm pretty sure that there is nothing YOU can do to fix these problems. You need to take the vehicle to a shop and have a mechanic check it out.

Well i would say the opposite. I fixed it laying under the truck in my driveway (in the snow).

It was the FPDM, that little module that drive the fuel pump, under the bed. Total cost 100$, saved a couple hundreds doing it myself ;)

So, you posted a question for help, received no replies as to how to fix it, and 8 days later it's suddenly fixed with a "simple" repair??

Wish all my questions worked that way. Good for you.
Loren
