I just recently purchased a 95 Explorer XLT. I love it and call her Vera. Last Friday i was having issues starting the engine. When I first brought it a month ago, one crank would start it. On my way home from work Thursday, it took 2 cranks. the next day it took more and by lunch it wouldn't start. So, not being a mechanic I had one look at it (two different ones actually) and they agreed that it was the fuel pump. So, looking at a 300-400 dollar repair, I came to the forum to do some research. In unrelated post, I saw one member had a problem with bad relays. So, I switched around a few of the relays and she turned over easy as pie. So a 300+ dollar fuel pump change would have gone down the drain seeing how the pump was still in working condition, and the problem would have still continued. Thanks Explorer Fourm!!!!

Welcome to this forum! Sometimes mechanics throw parts at a vehicle instead of troubleshooting. The easiest way to test the fuel pump is by connecting piece of wire across the relay's contacts.
