fuel pump problems on new installed pump

Hi there I am a new member from Athens Ga, Hope everyone is doing well!
I have a 1998 ford explorer xlt, i replace the fuel pump myself about 6 months ago, now when the fuel guage goes below 1/4 of a tank the engine quits. I have to keep the fuel abouve 1/4 of a tank. Any suggestions to what the problem is or possibly what i might have did wrong when i installed the pump. Thanks a bunch.

Does the problem arise most frequently parked facing downhill?
Did you replace the pump alone, or the whole basket? Which brand? ( ok 3questions)

are you sure you installed the new pump assembly clocked correctly?
