I just replaced the fuel pump in my '91 EB w/140 k. It started and drove well but after turning vehicle off and removing key the pump was still trying to pump gas. It was actually doing the same thing prior to replacement and the Ford service guy said it was "stuck open" and would need replacing. It seems to be getting continuous power even after key is shut off. Could it be an ignition problem not shutting down completely. I don't think I installed this incorrectly so what could be causing this fuel pump, and the last one, to keep pumping? Any help would be great!

Maybe the fuel pump relay is sticking open. Sounds like you may have needlessly replaced the pump, sorry. Though a new fuel pump isn't a bad idea on a 91.

The relay in the box under the hood is stuck open. Replace the relay and you should not have the trouble.

Exactly right. Replaced relay, problem solved. Thanks for the assist!
