I would THINK it uses the same tool as a newer Explorer.. its $4-5 at an auto parts store. You CAN get the clips off without, but its more than $5 PITA from what Ive seen

yea just get the tool....its a ford quick disconnect tool..i forget the P/N....mmm i need one of those again to change my fuel filter...i lost mine in the move
