Fuel sending unit ?

Is a 91 and 93 sending unit the same?Rockauto and lmc both show one part number.But the one out of my 91 dont look like the one out of my 93.Not totally different but some.The one in my 91 is rusted to crap and I have a almost new one for a 93.I hooked up the one for a 93 and the fuel gauge didnt want to work.That is why I was asking.Thanks
