I have finally got my ideas on what I want my Explorer to have when I am done with it. I want a strong rear end that will turn 33's with 4.10 or 4.56 gearing. The idea of breakig a c-clip and having an axle shaft fall out while wheeling is not one I like. (especially if I drive all the way to Moab) A full floating rear end has come to mind.

Does any company make a kit to convert a stock Ford 8.8" rear end to a full floater? If so, what kind of price am I looking at? I don't know much about them so how will it affect installing a locker or limited slip?

Warn had a kit, but I'm not sure if it's still available. I think it requires a change to 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern.

I think you should worry about other things breaking. I can't think of anyone here snapping an axle shaft, and lots of us run 35s, most with lockers, and do some pretty severe wheeling. The 8.8 is pretty damn tough.
