Full length console in a first gen?

I already have the message center and the extra PCM terminal. I am not sure what vehicle the message center came from, so I will probally be mixing and matching parts. Did the pan need to be removed to install the oil sensor? I have a 2003 4.0L automatic 4x4 truck. I will probally use a washer/overflow set up from an Explorer/Mountianeer. With my luck the sealer will leak forever........

Ah, I'm following you. Do you have the three plug haness that goes to the message center? As far as the two sensors, As far as I know, only vehicles with the message center will have them. The two sensors will not be installed on every vehicle. So you will have to find one with the factory message center and thus take the sensors.

The oil sensor will have three wires coming out if it. Thats the one you want, not the single wire type. And the pan does not have to be removed, just get a big pair of chanlock pliers or a really big adjustable wrench and it threads out of the pan.

And you will be able to use the entire fluid container, go for it! running a ranger it should maount the same. Just make sure donor vehicle's one isn't sun baked and cracked easily. I didn't realize you were doing this to a ranger, which will be slightly different then doing to a 1st gen explorer. I followed this thread when doing mine, and modified what I needed. This thread will actually be more in line with what you are doing then this one, lol.

Yes I do have the three wiring harnesses to the message center all the way to the large bolt in plug. I will buy a new oil level sensor, I was wondering if I will have to remove the pan to install it in my truck? Also, I could not access the pdf file in the link that you gave me. Do you have a copy of the file that you can share with me?? Thanks.

No, the pan does not need to be removed to install or remove the sensor. Although I would install it when you change your oil, otherwise, you'll leak out like a quart or two.

Where does the sensor go in the oil pan? Will I have to drill any holes?

It will screw right into place where the oil level sensor is. on your ranger, i cant remeber if it is on the left or right side of the pan. No drilling required

Next time I am under the truck, I will look to see if I have an oil level sensor. But I don't think my truck would have one because it is a Ranger not an Explorer.

Edog, do you have a check oil light somewhere on ethe dash that lights up whenever you are starting it? If so, or if you have ever had the check oil light come on, you have that sensor.

There is no check oil light on the dash, just the check engine light, and the truck does have an oil pressure gauge in the instrument cluster.

Which pin did you get the fuel flow information from on your vehicle?
