My 99 dimmer switch wasnt working right, you could hear it arcing and had to mess with it alot to get all of the lights to work correctly. Instead of paying $$$ for a new one I found its very easy to fix.
1. Remove the switch
2. Carefully pop of the cover on the back.
3. Notice the 2 tabs on each side holding the board and wheel in, depress those and the board and wheel will pop out exposing the copper contacts on the back.
4. I used an old toothbrush and contact cleaner to scrub the old grease, corrosion, and arcing off the contacts on both sides of the wheel as well as the 3 copper rollers in the wheel.
5. Spread a thin layer of dielectric grease on the contacts and put it back together.
This is a very easy way to revive your dimmer switch, not counting removing the switch it only takes about 5 minutes.
