gas gauge and temp gauge

i have owned my 99 xlt for almost one month, the gas gauge seems to never show the same thing, it shows the correct amount in the tank then it creeps to more then really in the tank , like there might be 3/4's in the tank but it shows 1/2 etc....it happens at different times, it's not like i'm going up/down hill etc.....then the temp gauge does the same thing, it shows all the way cold then might go to normal, then creeps back to cold, sometimes never goes above cold during my 40 mile commute, is there a short? or an electrical glitch?

Can't help with your gas guage, but your temperature gauge problem is most likely the thermostat being stuck open. It's fairly easy and cheap to replace.
