gas gauge question

I just have a quick question/poll for people with 2nd gens. I have a 96 4.0 XLT (OHV) and my gas gauge goes from about 3/8 of a tank down to empty in about 20 miles. Im just curious does anyone else have this issue/ know how to correct it? I have been living with it but its getting kinda annoying haha. Thanks.

the tank float is the problem, it seems to be hollow , and fills up with the gas, and than does not measure properly, , replace the float , problem solved,,
