Hey guys, my gas milage has drastically dropped from about 420km before the warning light to 360km. Usually I get about 120km on the first quarter tank and now I am getting around 85-95km. The only thing I have done recently to it was and oil change. Any ideas. I am going to replace my Airaid filter because it the fins are a little bent but it has been like that for a long time so I can't see that to be the cause of the drastic change in milage. Any ideas? Fuel filter possibly?

How many miles are on the car? I dont know much about Airraid filters, but I'll assume they are like K&N filters. If its dirty you may want to clean it and re-oil it.

There are 121 500km on it. Fairly low milage.

They're probably using "winter gas" at the pumps up here in Calgary now. The additives in it reduce mileage significantly. 60 km to a tank would be about right. I had the same problem with my '00 Sport and I see it in my '99 Eddie Bauer now. Come to think about it, my mileage is probably tailing off a bit right now as well.

If you're looking at new air filters (I assume you're using a conical filter and aftermarket intake setup). I've got several filters to choose from that I'd sell for a good price. Two versions of K&N, one made by Green (highest quality oiled filters out there), the AFE that came with my Volant (every bit as good as K&N if not better) and a cheapo no-name one that came with another intake setup. All are assorted sizes, but all come with a 3.5" internal diameter on the flange. All have low miles on them (except the AFE and it's been recently cleaned and re-oiled). The no name one has no miles and I'd give that one away. Moving soon so one less filter to move would be nice. :D

PM me if interested.

I added some Lucas Oil fuel treatment and it brought my milage up a considerably, but it still is lowwer than normal. I haven't had a chance to clean out my air filter yet and I am going to replace my fuel filter too I think.

How often should fuel filter be changed?

maybe you should run some simple maintenance if you havent already, if these components havent been changed in a while they harm fuel milage

spark plugs
wires
fuel filter
02 Sensors
PCV Valve

Maybe even run 91/93 octane fuel for one tank with injector cleaner.
