I was wondering if you guys could tell me the gas mileage of these trucks/cars:

4wd Full size Explorer
2wd Full size Explorer
4wd F150
4wd Expedition
2wd Expidition
Mustang Gt

I drive 70 miles a day to and from work and this is a major decision in my next vehicle. I average about 28 - 30 K miles a year. Right now I have a 2wd Explorer Sport. What would you guys buy?

my 1999 f150 4x4 5.4 got 12 city 13 hwy

my 1999 explorer 2wd 5.0 gets about 13 city and 15 hwy

my '99 4.0sohc 4x4 gets 12/21

Our 2000 2wd 5.0 Mounty gets around 15-16mpg in the city and 21mpg on the highway at 75-85 mph.

I would say the GT especially with a 5 speed, or try to find a used 99-01 (no 02's;) ) Cobra as my friends 01' Cobra with mods gets about 28mpg on the highway at about 80mph. My other friends 03' with lots of goodies gets about 21-23mpg on the highway with a heavy foot but only gets around 14-16 or so in the city.....03's guzzle in the city:p

I do 15 in city and 21 on highway...Limited 95

Everything is a compromise. If you're looking for just fuel economy in a Ford product, and don't want a Focus, I'd look at a 99+ Mustang V-6. They will get almost 30 mpg on the highway.

If you're a truck kinda guy, maybe look into another 2WD Explorer Sport. My 00 gets about 21 mpg highway. Another thing to factor in is the insurance cost. I looked at more economical cars when I bought the Sport. The insurance symbols were much higher on other vehicles, which would have negated any savings in fuel. I bought my Sport because of the lower insurance rates, lots of interior room, and adequate fuel economy.

My 95 OHV gets 16 and 22 depending on weather, speed, terrain, how many cupholders are being used.

I once averaged 90mph from Austin to Stephenville (180 miles or so and it was about 2AM) and it pulled down an 18.

Aldive gets 30 in his, which does work if you keep your speed 60-65mph, I've gotten a best of 26 that way. but most of the time I get 20-22.
