I love his truck butrecently either when I turn on cruise control of after some time of driving the pedal doesn't feel as smooth when trying to push it down . The best way I can describe it is when I try to push it down it gos smooth until it hits a "kink" then I have to apply a little bit more force into it but then the rest is smooth . I felt likeasking here before I go to a mechanic . Thanks guys

Clean and lube where the throttle & cruise cable hooks to the throttle body. You will need to pull the plastic cover off to access them.

I had the same problem on my '97 5.0 and it fixed the problem. The gas pedal was much smoother operating afterward.

have you traced the cables and looked at them too see if they are damaged or in need of being replaced?

I'll try those tHings but I heard people had a problem with a sticky pedal maybe that's it...... I'm not sure if the cables are damaged because when I first start the truck it works perfectly ...... Can you guys tell me how exactley I get to the cables thanks any help would be grateful

Actually I'm just gonna have my mechanic look a it since this is the first v8 I own I'm nit gonna mess with it.... What should I tell my mechanic though to get the job done avoid being ripped off?

Recall?

Our 1999 had a recall for the cruise control cable. It would tend to stick. I wonder if that could be happening with you 1998?

Oh that could be... Would I have to make an appointment directly with ford to check that out?
