Has anyones gas pedal ever got stuck? Mine did one morning when I was racing another explorer. I steped on it really hard and held it there. When I let off the car was still going. When I hit the brakes it slowed down really slow and when I let off the brakes it took off again. I think it may have got stuck on the floor mats inbetween the carpet. Any suggestions?

yep happened to me. right as i was pulling in to my drive way. luckily i swerved and drove in the yard so i didnt hit the garage mine got stock on my floor mat ..

i jsut pulled my floor mat a lil further back

PEACE

Happened to me once... The pedal was not caught on the floormat, but rather the plastic bracket that the throttle cable feeds into near the throttle body had broken into two pieces. When I accelerated, the piece closer to the firewall pulled away from the other piece, and then got caught on something about 1/2" - 3/4" inch back. So when I fully let off of the pedal, the throttle cable was still pulled back like the pedal was being pressed. I was idling at about 2,000 RPM, and livid because I had just got the tranny rebuilt and I thought the shop had messed something up. Once I popped the hood it was easy to spot the problem, and a zip tie fixed it.

Check your Ford Dealership. Your truck might have a recall on it. I got a letter in the mail for this fix and got it done right away.

Man, that's dangerous!

It has happened two times to me, both getting on to the highway. When I took it in to the Ford dealership they said that my throtle cable was full of gunk. They replaced it and it hasn't happened since.

Was it under warranty or was it part of a recall?

I am going to call ford and see what they say about a recall on my 95 explorer, lets just say It was a good thing not alot of cars were on the road that morning

Yes. You might not be as lucky next time. :(
