When I fill up and the nozzle clicks off I can get another 5 gal in the tank but I have to 'baby' the nozzle a tenth of a gal at a time. This is a pain in the arse. When the tank is full to the neck I can go 120 miles before the gauge starts to move, once it starts. it drops like a rock. I never let it get down to the 'empty' end of the gauge for fear of running out of gas. Another pain in the arse. Any suggestions? All help very much appreciated

use the trip odometer, I'd guess about 14mpg in city, 18mpg on the highway. figure out how far that is on a full tank, and make sure to fill up before then depending on where you drive the most.

Run some seafoam through the tank also (sort of a fuel injector cleaner), it helps the fuel sender sometimes.

You have a vent line stopped up, (spiders love to build nests in them) or a malfunctioning vent valve/solenoid/etc. It's PITA to find sometimes. My E250 did the same thing and it made me furious to take 30 minutes to fill a 35 gallon tank!

My fuel gauge wanders around like it has a mind of it's own also. I haven't attempted a fix for it yet. I "think" there's a slosh module in the instrument cluster that goes bad. Replaceable?, IDNK yet.

I have the opposite problem. When I fill my tank, it fills up to the point where I end up with a few ounces of gas spilling out before the pump stops.
