Who can tell me about this? I'm going to be swapping in the new x case in my GFs ride but the manual says theres a gasket between it and the tranny. However, no auto parts store carries this mystery gasket. Is it just a dust deal or what? I couldn't find one of fordpartsnetwork either! Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

When we remove transfer cases at the shop we usually replace the gasket with silicone. In my opinion this has a less chance of leaking.

Silicone does work better and most of the time Ford didn't use a gasket.

yep dodge is the same way they use a seal on the back of the tranny and a seal in the front of the transfer case .

i'm with transmission guy, just silicone the heck out of it, but not too much so it gets inside the t-case

Well, I would ask for the gasket- the silicone doesnt seem to last very long. My trans guy assured me the silicone would last. Well- nope I need to change mine after about 10,000 miles. Its leaking quite a bit. E - Mail torrie for the part number9 parts request) - he will find it. As I understand it the web listings are not all that he carries and/or can get.

Good Luck.

Thanks guys. I'll guess I'll put this off for another weekend. I just emailed Torrie and if he can't get one I'll check with the local dealers. Thanks again. :D
