Gauge Cluster Swap

I have an 02 XLS Explorer and am interested in doing a gauge cluster swap from an 02 Mountaineer. Couple of questions; 1st, will the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) need to be reprogrammed? 2nd, is there a difference in the tach outputs between the 6 & 8 cylinder models (I have a 4.0 and dont know what engine was in the Mountaineer cluster) and my existing cluster does not have the message center and if I install one with a message center, will it work correctly? Thanks!
