Well im looking at my gauge cluster and i noticed that my altimeter and oil pressure guage are not to where i believe they should be.

For one after starting the truck its in the middle but after driving for a little while is slowly moves to about the L where is says normal. i replaced the starter, have a optima yellow top, a new altinator (130amp) and battery terminals. im out of ideas.

Ummm, are you sure your explorer has an altimeter?!?!? Thats a gauge used to display altitude! My oil pressure gauge goes to the same spot everytime, even if the oil gets low the check oil light comes on and the pressure indicator stays the same. I think that is a common problem with the 1st gen explorers. If you really feel you need an oil pressure gauge I would install an aftermarket gauge.

Get a multimeter and test the voltage at the battery. Should be in the 13-14 volt range with the truck running. Thats a voltage gauge.

Mine does the same.I have a new battery and I did an AVR test to see how the Alt was working. It is fine. When I first start mine it is at the "m" then it goes to the "L" after driving for a few minutes. My other 92 X did the same thing even after I replaced the Alt and Battery.
